I flashed a beta bios from an Asus developer, version 0083 (board came with 0902). Has a bit more memory stuff in it, plus the new AMD AEGSA CPU update thingy. You can find that stuff, and over 1000 pages of crap, here on OCN. BIOS updates are on page 1:

Daz: Heatkiller on an AMD 7950 FTL. I don't even have an OS yet!

While I'm waiting for AM4 mounting hardware, I've been playing around with OCing. I think I lost the silicon lottery on this 1700. I need well over 1.4V to be stable at only 3.8ghz, so I decided to dial it down a bit, and currently have the CPU at 3.7Ghz @ 1.35v. Seems stable, but I'm still testing. As for the memory, it seems I have to settle for 2966mhz. Whatever I do, I can't post at 3200 (still playing around though). At 2966 on the memory, I can set absurdly low timings though, currently running 2966@12-12-12-12-24-1T. That'll do until the new AMD AGESA microcode comes along and hopefully makes this a bit better.

Thanks Nass, already got em both. Still stress testing / benching with AIDA64, newest OCCT, CPUZ built in benchmark, etc. Using em all. So far it seems OCCT is very good at showing OC instability within 5 minutes.

Should be, based on how tight the timings are. This stuff is rated 3600 @ 15-15-15-35. Don't see many people with this kit though. Most opted for the 3200 CL14 stuff. I figured 3600 CL15 had a better chance of overclocking with tight timings.

Those are some insane speeds, especially for the timings.

I'll do that this evening. Keep in mind I don't have RGB ram though, so I shouldn't have to worry about the memory corruption issues the RGB RAM guys were having with Asus Aura software ruining their memory.

Yessir, which is why I coughed up the extra $$$$. That 2 x 8GB kit cost me $300 + tax. But on the plus side, as long as I'm stuck running 2933, I'm at 12-12-12-12-24-1T. Not too shabby!
